Just Keep Swimming, Just Keep Swimming

Syracuse swimming and diving closed out day two of the Gamecock Invitational at the University of South Carolina this evening. The Orange had four individuals and two relay teams qualify for the 2008 Short Course Nationals which take place Dec. 4-7 in Atlanta, Ga. Leading the Orange today was sophomore Jakub Kotynia who won the 100 Breaststroke at a clip of 56.17. He beat the short course qualifying time by more than one second. Sophomore Berk Kahraman was another top finisher for SU. He placed third in the 100 back with a time of 50.27 to qualify for the S.C. Nationals. Junior Boldiszar Kiss rounded out the top men’s swimmers with a short court qualifying time of 1:40.30. Full Results

Syracuse Posts Two Powerplay Markers in Detroit

DETROIT, Mich. – In what proved to be a physical battle, the Syracuse ice hockey team rallied from a four-goal deficit in the third period to scare CHA opponent Wayne State with about three minutes remaining, but the late end charge was not enough in the 5-3 decision. Sophomore forward Keeta Koalska (Forest Lake, Minn.) tallied her first career goal for Syracuse at the City Sports Center on Saturday evening as part of the final effort in the third period while freshman Kylie Klassen (Winkler, Manitoba) and sophomore forward Stefanie Marty (Nussbaumen, Switzerland) each recorded their first powerplay goals for the Orange this season. Flynn Leads Orange to 86-66 Victory Against Oakland

SYRACUSE, NY -- Syracuse improved to a 3-0 start this year after posting an 86-66 victory against Oakland on Friday, Nov. 21 in front of a crowd of 18,932. Sophomore guard Jonny Flynn, one of five Orange performers to score in the double-digits, led the Orange offense with 18 points.

Junior Arinze Onuaku was second on the team in scoring with 14 points. He went five-for-five and made four free throws. Freshman Kris Joseph had a career-high 13 points and six boards. Juniors Paul Harris and Eric Devendorf recorded 11 and 10 points, respectively, and Devendorf had a game-high seven assists.

Syracuse cruises past Oakland 86-66

A solid outing for the Orange as it tunes up for its first big game of the year against Florida on Monday. Syracuse never felt threatened as it beat Oakland (Mich.) 86-66 in the Carrier Dome Friday night.

Tebucky Jones Jr. Talks Recruiting

Tebucky Jones Jr. is a standout player at New Britain High School in Connecticut, however he is trying to make his way doing the opposite of what his father did in college and the NFL, score touchdowns. The younger Jones was the teams’ leading receiver this season and is already hearing from a handful of programs.
