The University of South Carolina women's tennis team will start the spring season ranked No. 33 in the nation according to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's first rankings of 2009 released Tuesday.

South Carolina men's tennis is ranked No. 52 in the nation, according to the ITA rankings released on Tuesday. Two Gamecocks earned singles rankings with junior Diego Cubas leading the way in 42nd position. Freshman Ivan Machado came in at No. 106 after a solid fall campaign.

Eric Wolford has been named University of South Carolina's running game coordinator and offensive line coach, Gamecocks' head football coach Steve Spurrier announced today. Wolford, 37, comes to Carolina following a two-year stint at the University of Illinois where he held a similar position. In his two years at Illinois, Wolford's lines have led the Big Ten Conference in rushing (2007) and passing (2008) in back-to-back seasons.
