SportProjections.com's College Football Playoff

The NCAA College Football Bowl Championship Series is a mess. We all want a playoff and we want it now! We want a team like Boise State last year to get in the playoff. SportProjections.com has found the solution. This solution will guarantee happiness for all the money grubbin BCS crooks, conferences, bowls, and more importantly the fans.

The Facts:

Major conferences = 6 (ACC, Big 12, Big East, Big Ten, Pac-10, SEC)
Other conferences = 5 (Conference USA, Mid-American, Mountain West, Sun Belt, Western Athletic)
Independent teams = 4 (Army, Navy, Notre Dame, Western Kentucky)

The first challenge is to allow every team the opportunity to make it to the playoff. This is solved by still using the BCS standings.

BCS Standings:

The AP poll will be used again in the BCS standings. The AP Poll and Coaches Poll will be weighted with the most influence in the BCS Standings.

The BCS will continue to use their computers, loss factor and other polls (This includes Sportprojections.com poll of course).

The BCS Standings will continue to have the top 25 standings but only the top 20 will determine the playoff.

How you're invited into the BCS playoff:

16 teams are included in the playoff.

Every conference champion is invited into the BCS playoff if they are ranked in the top 20 of the BCS standings.

Independent teams receive an automatic bid if they are in the top 8 of the BCS standings.

At-Large teams receive a bid according to the exact rankings for the BCS standings.

How are teams seeded and where do they play the games:

Teams are seeded exactly based by the BCS standings.

The top eight seeds receive a home game in the first round.

Second round games are played at the Fiesta Bowl and Sugar Bowl (Rose, Sugar, Fiesta and Orange Bowl rotate the championship game, semifinals, and second round), Cotton Bowl and Citrus Bowl.

Semifinals are played at the Rose and Orange Bowl.

Championship Bowl game is played at the Sugar Bowl.
