Dominick Goodman won a state championship as the quarterback at Colerain High School in 2004, rushing for a state title-game record of 259 yards with four touchdowns, but he knew he wouldn't be playing quarterback at the University of Cincinnati.

The University of Cincinnati swimming and diving team wrapped up its first day of competition at the Hoosierland Invitational at the Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatic Center. The meet continues tomorrow and runs through Sunday. Participating swim teams include Indiana, Louisville, Pittsburgh and Truman State.

(11:58 p.m.): Just saw an e-mail from the Reds saying that Glenn Sample died this evening. I'm kind of stunned by this news.

The University of Cincinnati's volleyball team held a two sets to none lead, but the University of Pittsburgh rallied back to defeat the Bearcats in five sets (25-18, 25-16, 21-25, 14-25, 10-15) Friday evening at Fitzgerald Field House in the quarterfinals of the BIG EAST Tournament. The loss snapped the Bearcats 15-match winning streak, giving UC its first loss since Sept. 28.

Dominick Goodman will leave his mark on the University of Cincinnati when he leaves. But for now games are to be played and Goodman will be a major key.
