Start’em Sit’em
Here we are again, ready to face another week of fantasy football. Hopefully your team survived week number 1 of the playoffs and is now ready to play for a chance at the Super Bowl. We are going to do our best to help you make great decisions as you set your starting line-ups. Our first suggestion is to get anyone who plays offense for the Patriots or Browns. Those two offenses are going to have a field day. Here are our other tips for week 15:
QBs – Most of us have settled on our starting QBs by now, but if you don’t have a go-to guy, let us make a couple of suggestions. Phillip Rivers has taken a lot of flack because of his sporadic play, but this week should change that. Rivers has a chance to play against a horrible Detroit secondary, and he should be able to take advantage and have a good day passing the ball. Another QB that will be worthy of a start this week is Kurt Warner. We know he was picked off 5 times by the Seahawk defense last week, but the Saints ain’t the Seahawks. Fitzgerald is playing as are Johnson and Urban. They should have a big day in the Big Easy.
In case you haven’t noticed, Vince Young is not worthy of starting in your fantasy league. He puts up decent numbers on the ground but still struggles throwing the ball. He has only 7 TDs compared to 16 INTs. Bench him. This will also be a good week to sit Jon Kitna. San Diego hasn’t been as good defensively as they have in the past, but they are still good enough to slow down Kitna. The Chargers have a decent pass-rush even without Merriman, and Cromartie leads the league in INTs. It will be a long day for Kitna and company.
RBs – It may seem obvious to start Willis McGahee, but we have had several people ask if he is a good play this week. The answer is yes. McGahee is going home to Miami to play against the worst rushing defense in the league, so he is a must start. Earnest Graham is also a great option this week. If 3rd stringer Aaron Stecker had 100 yards against the Falcons last week, what do you think Graham will do to them?
We hope by now you have realized a platoon at running back is not an ideal situation for fantasy owners. This is why we have been urging owners to find better options than Maurice Jones-Drew and Fred Taylor. We like both backs, but you never know which one will have the big game. Last week it was Taylor, but what about this week? Find a better option if you can. Jesse Chatman and Samkon Gado should remain on your bench this week as well. They have been nice fill-ins, but they face the swarming Ravens defense this week and will be hard pressed to produce for you.
WRs – Bernard Berrian has really impressed us the last few weeks. He is fast and catches everything he touches. This week he faces a weak Minnesota secondary and should be open often. Hopefully Kyle Orton can get him the ball. Last week we told you to bench Lee Evans because he hadn’t developed a rapport with Trent Edwards, but that changed last week. Evans and Edwards played like they were on the same page. That is not good for the Cleveland secondary.
Andre Johnson has been great when healthy this year. Unfortunately for him, he faces Champ Bailey this week. He will struggle. Tory Holt is also a weak play this week. He faces a tough Green Bay secondary, and we don’t even know who will be throwing him the ball. Find another WR option for week 15.
These are our suggestions. We hope we were helpful as you get ready for the biggest fantasy weekend so far. Check back next week for our special Super Bowl edition of Start’em Sit’em.
