NCAA Football Picks –
UCLA at USC (-20) – The Jekyll and Hyde Bruins travel across the city to face the rival Trojans. This game is huge for bowl game positioning. UCLA still has an outside shot at the Rose Bowl if all the chips fall the right way. USC has the inside track and assures itself of a Rose Bowl bid with a victory. USC is also seeking revenge after UCLA knocked it out of the title game last year. We like USC to win, but 20 points is big. Pick: UCLA +20
Oklahoma (-3) vs. Missouri – This is the biggest game in the history of Missouri sports. The Tigers need to avenge their only loss if they want their shot at a national championship. Oklahoma is playing for a BCS bowl as well. The game will be decided on the defensive side of the ball. Whichever team can slow down the other’s offense will win this game. It is hard to belcf a great team twice in one year. Pick: Missouri +3
Oregon State at Oregon (even) – How far can the Ducks fall? They were on the doorstep of a National Title two weeks ago, and now they are just trying to win a game. Third-string QB Cody Kempt will make his first start at QB and will need Jonathan Stewart to carry the load if the Ducks are to win. The Beavers are looking to improve their bowl position with a win in the Civil War. The Beavers are also nursing injuries: QB Sean Canfield is out, and RB Yvenson Bernard is unlikely to play. Both teams will struggle on offense, so the difference is the “D.” We like the Beavers. Pick: Oregon State
Boston College vs. Virginia Tech (-4.5) – Boston College was very fortunate to escape with a victory at Virginia Tech this season. An onside kick and a throw across the field by Matt Ryan were the determining factors in a game the Hokies dominated. The Tech offense appears to be improving each week and will cause more problems for the BC defense. Expect Virginia Tech to get its revenge on Saturday and beat the spread. Pick: Virginia Tech - 4.5
Tennessee vs. LSU (-7.5) – The LSU Tigers come off a disappointing three overtime loss last week against Arkansas. Will the Tigers minds be in the game after losing their chance at the national championship game? Is LSU defensive coordinator Bo Pelini thinking about the game or the job at Nebraska? Is LSU head coach Les Miles thinking about the game or the Michigan job? Too many distractions make this closer than a 7-point game. Pick: Tennessee +7.5
Washington at Hawaii (-14) – The Hawaii Warriors are one game away from an invitation to the Sugar Bowl. The Warriors should be really high for this game, while Washington enters the game losing to in-state rivals Washington State. The Huskies have played the most difficult schedule this season, while the Warriors have played the easiest. Considering the difference, will Washington keep this game close? We doubt it, considering they gave up 399 yards passing and 5 touchdowns in the air last week. The Warriors and Colt Brennan must be excited to attack that secondary. Pick: Hawaii -14
