Week 4 NFL Picks –

Sportprojections.com has made its week 4 picks against the spread. Here is what we think:

Baltimore (-4.5) at Cleveland – The Ravens plan to shut down ex-teammate Jamal Lewis this weekend. The rotating quarterbacks worked for last week. Expect the defense to step up and prove the Cardinals come back last week was a fluke. Pick: Baltimore -4.5

Chicago (-3) at Detroit – The Lions want to forget being blown out by the Eagles last week. Chicago is missing a bunch of starters on the defensive side. The Bears can’t be any worse on offense with Brian Griese at quarterback, but expect the Lions to score enough to keep this game very close. Pick: Detroit +3

Green Bay (-2) at Minnesota – The Packers defense will plan to contain Adrian Peterson and make the Vikings throw the ball in order to win. Favre’s history in Minnesota isn’t great, but the Vikings just don’t have enough offense to stay with the Packers. Packers should cover the spread if it limits turnovers. Pick: Green Bay -2

Houston (-2.5) at Atlanta – The Texans have proven the first three weeks it’s a solid team this season. It needs to keep focused this week against a team it should beat. The Falcons have been very close to winning in its last two games. Expect Atlanta to finally get its first victory of the season at home. Pick: Atlanta +2.5

New York Jets (-3.5) at Buffalo – The Jets consistently win the games it’s supposed to win. The Bills will start rookie Trent Edwards at quarterback. Expect the Jets to keep the pressure on him and create some turnovers. Pick: New York Jets -3.5

Oakland at Miami (-4.5) – Miami must realize it better win this game or its season is finished. Cam Cameron has faced the Raiders many times coaching in San Diego. Expect the Dolphins to get its first win. Pick: Miami -4.5

St. Louis at Dallas (-13) – The Rams have stunk, and the Cowboys have looked unstoppable. Everything says the Cowboys should blow the Rams out this week. The Rams will be determined, and the Cowboys might be overconfident. Expect the Rams to at least cover the spread. Pick: Rams +13

Seattle (-2) at San Francisco – Last year, Seattle was swept by the 49ers and Frank Gore ran wild over the Hawks “D.” This is a new year, and Seattle is hell bent on beating the 49ers. The key to this game is the Hawks defense against the San Francisco offense. If the Hawks can contain Gore, Seattle will win. We know the 49ers aren’t going to beat the Hawks with the pass. Pick: Seattle –2

Tampa Bay at Carolina (-3) – This an interesting game in the NFC South. Gruden and Garcia have the Bucs back in contention this year. Garcia has brought some stability to the offense, which has the defense excited and playing well. On the other hand, Carolina has been up and down so far and needs to find some leadership. David Carr will get his first start with the Panthers this week. Is he ready? Pick: Tampa Bay +3 (straight up)

Denver at Indianapolis (-9.5) - The Broncos are two plays away from an 0-3 record. Jay Cutler has made some great plays but has also looked inexperienced at times. The key to the game is the Denver corners vs. the Colts receivers. This will be a fun match-up to watch. Joseph Addai will have a huge game and carry the Colts. Pick: Indianapolis – 9.5

Kansas City at San Diego (-12) – Believe it or not, the Chiefs have a top 10 defense. K.C. will see a healthy diet of L.T. this weekend, and it has to be able to control him. If Norv goes smash mouth style, the Chargers will route the Chiefs. When has Norv ever done that? Pick: Kansas City +12

Pittsburgh (-6) at Arizona – This is a tough call this week. Ken Whisenhunt hosts his former team. He knows the personnel well and should have his team prepared. The Steelers are just too balanced to lose to the Cards. Pick: Steelers –6

Philadelphia (-3) at New York Giants – Whatever the over is in this game, take it. The Eagles hung 56 on Detroit last week and now faces the Giants inept defense. Philadelphia hasn’t been much better on “D” Whoever has the ball last wins. Pick: Eagles –3

New England (-7.5) at Cincinnati – Has anyone had a tougher schedule to start than the Bengals? As well as the Pats have played, this is a tough match-up for Cincinnati’s defense. This is a dangerous game for the Patriots, but New England will pull it out. The Bengals cover at home, though. Pick: Cincinnati +7.5

Good luck with this week’s picks. Check back next week for our sportprojections.com week 5 picks.
