Start’em or Sit’em

As the fantasy year begins, it is time for sportprojections.com’s weekly “start’em or sit’em” article. Each week, we will give you insight on who are good plays and who to avoid for that week. We won’t waste your time by telling you to start LT or Peyton; instead, we will give you the marginal players that we expect to step up. We hope you enjoy, and good luck in your league.
QBs - This week’s QB to play is Seattle’s Matt Hasselbeck. Tampa Bay struggled against the run last year. Look for the Seahawks to use a lot of 4-receiver sets and to spread the ball around. Seattle wants to make a statement, and the Bucs will be the victims.
I would sit Jay Cutler this week. He has to travel across the country to play the Buffalo Bills. Buffalo played very well against the pass last year; and even though they lost Nate Clements, they should still be very solid defensively. The other issue is that Jay has no legit #2 receiver to throw to.
RBs - I am not a big fan of the RB by committee for fantasy football; however, this week is a great time to start either Deuce McCallister or Reggie Bush. The Colts were horrible against the run most of the 2006 season. The Saints’ RBs are going to run wild.
Although I love the trade for Thomas Jones, his Jets career is going to get off to a slow start. They play the Patriots this week, which is never an easy task. Since Thomas missed most of the preseason, it will be a tough week for Jones.
WRs – Here is where I struggled to find a good play this week. We all know the obvious plays like Harrison or Chad Johnson, but who is that marginal guy that will have a big week? I have decided to go with Hines Ward. Ward is coming off a down year, but Tomlin has vowed to open up the offense. I expect Ward to scorch the Browns for 100 yards and a TD.
The WR to avoid this week is Marques Colsten. I expect the Saints to run the ball on the Colts, cutting down on Colsten’s touches. The other problem is that no one has stepped up as an option at the #2 receiver spot. Look for coverages to roll to Colston.
Some may disagree with my ideas, but that is why we play the game. Good luck on opening weekend, and come back next week for another installment of sportprojections.com’s start’em or sit’em.

If you call running wild combining for around 70 yards and no touchdowns I need to find another site for projections.
