Loyal bloggers and fans from each Big Ten school have contributed to our 2007 Big Ten College Football Preview. They created a preview for their teams, a win-loss prediction for each game during the season, a prediction for bowl games, and their projected final standings in the Big Ten. Click on each team name to visit its team page and read the season preview.
The 2006 Big Ten college football season was about Ohio State and Michigan making a run at the national title. The Michigan-Ohio State game came down to two undefeated teams fighting for the right to play in the BCS Championship game. Ohio State prevailed and played in the title game. Wisconsin somehow stayed under the radar with all the Ohio State-Michigan hype and finished with a 12-1 record. Penn State was the only other bright spot for the Big Ten last year. The rest of the conference struggled as six of the teams finished with a below .500 record. The Big Ten didn’t impress in the bowl games at the end of the year with a 2-5 record.
Here are the final standings for last year:
1. Ohio State 12-1 8-0
2. Wisconsin 12-1 7-1
3. Michigan 11-2 7-1
4. Penn State 9-4 5-3
5. Purdue 8-6 5-3
6. Minnesota 6-7 3-5
7. Indiana 5-7 3-5
8. Iowa 6-7 2-6
9. Northwestern 4-8 2-6
10. Michigan State 4-8 1-7
11. Illinois 2-10 1-7
The 2007 preseason predictions think Michigan will win the Big Ten this season. They received 7 first place votes. Ohio State lost many starters on the offensive and defensive side this season and it reflected on their predicted third place finish. The voters also believed Illinois would leave the cellar and take seventh place this year.
The 2007 Preseason Big Ten college football standings:
1. Michigan (7)
2. Wisconsin (2)
3. Ohio State (1)
4. Penn State
5. Iowa

Hope springs eternal. I love how everybody has predicted a bowl game for their squads. Imagine! Eleven bowl bids from the Big Ten… that would indeed be impressive.
J Money… read a little closer. The ES predicts the MSU Spartans will go bowling at Holiday Lanes in East Lansing, not football bowling…
Make that 10 bowl bids.
